Nico Grigore is a multidisciplinary artist born and based in Bucharest. Fascinated by creativity in all its forms, with a background in journalism and hospitality, she pursues a career in fine art photography before discovering the joy of working with clay in 2020. Persistent in her learning autonomy, she builds a primitive kiln and begins continuous exploring, testing, failing and succeeding with textures, techniques and styles. This is how Studio Gitane is born: a project that honours the beauty, imperfection, rawness and authenticity of life as it is. Her craftmanship extends to different mediums like ceramics, paper mache, wood, gypsum, gemstones. All of the pieces are one of a kind, there are no stocks or whole sales involved. 

 

The need of showcasing her work and creating a welcoming space for her community was brought to life at the end of 2023, when Studio Gitane Showroom has opened. After more than 10 months designing, producing and working on the project, the showroom is intergrated in a concept building that hosts Condesa Agave Bar & Kitchen, a latin american venue in the heart of Bucharest.

 

Nico is currently building a secondary studio in the protected area of Danube Delta, a project close to her soul and her wish to explore primitive pottery, natural pigments, silica and minerals.
